If you don't like a skill then the simple this is... Don't use it. Don't complain about the people who are chosing to.
If you want an experience that is relatively challenging then play a bit of PvP, or heaven forbid form a non Ursan based group .

SF is viable, it just will take longer and will have less monsters to farm.

Number 1: Ursan Blessing can only be used in Norn areas.

1. /signed, It's annoying. Although, to help prevent some "QQ" threads, I suggest EN areas, and spread it to all 3 blessings.
2. /notsigned, turning an item spell into an enchantment just ruins the concept of an item spell. Just add a skill that allows you to remove a item, I believe there are a few out there, might be wrong though.
3. /notsigned for turning into mesmers, that ruins the format of UW, one profession per area (although the necros and ele touchers somewhat ruin that). I will however /sign for adding monsters that can go past some common farming methods, as long as a majority of the added monsters stay with the profession system (would love to see Assassins, Ritualists, Paragons, and Dervishes in UW and FoW though.

From the dev updates: We are not opposed to players using Shadow Form for farming, but it is not good for the game economy for high-end farming activities to become too easy or too efficient. The new set of builds enabled by Shadow Form did exactly that.
^they aren't going to nerf VwK, ursan, or any other areas, they did what they needed to do to stabilize the economy(BTW I totally called the new mobs on the chaos plains....) and bring SF in line with the other solo farming builds. It is still viable for many other areas than UW(even still viable in the UW apparently).

WRONG.
First Perma Sin is NOT over its still as easy as it was before the nerf.
They nerfed other SF farming areas alot more than UW.
Second no one NEEDS ursan. Ursan is a joke. Give me a real team any day over Ursan.

ITS'S PvE

Isn't the whole point of making ectos a type rare material available at the trader so that its value is affected by FREE MARKET SUPPLY and DEMAND? If ectos were SUPPOSED to have a constant value, then they might as well have made it have an inherent value of X platinums at the regular merchant and removed them from the rare material trader.

If you NEED Ursan Blessing your VERY bad at this game.
Everyone QQed for an SF nerf and then it happens and there is even more stupid QQing, Good ole Sardelac home of stupid shit.
The SF nerf was needed, an Ursan Blessing is not needed, specifically, but a nerf would improve the challenge of the game. Most of PvE really is not a challenge and Ursan just makes it dumb. There ARE better builds than 5 Ursans and 3 Monks, the problem is people don't want to take the time to set up skills and proffesions for the optimum build for each area, so the don't, they dumb it down press Ursan and 1-2-3 their way around all day.
Meh, the only PvE I do is vanquishing when bored and sometimes trying to get the missions done in HM, if i have an SF or an Ursan in my group I could typically careless.

No I think you don't understand why they nerfed it. It was too effective and made the price of ectos go down drastically which was not a good thing since ectos are the primary use for secondary currency in Guild Wars. The GW economies would go to hell if this way of farming went on. Although I would agree that something has to be done about the Ursan Blessing.

Seriously, it's PvE, stop dicking with it. Who the hell cares if you have Obsidian armor? WHO CARES?!? Who cares if you have a voltaic spear? Who cares if your stocks of ecto are worth 3k each instead of 5k?
IT'S PvE.
This coming from an avid pve'er btw.
Are the people who farm UW ruining your fun? Are they sitting in ToA bouncing their stacks of ectos off your head and taunting you? Do they poke at your non-Obsidian armor and make fun of you?
So let's say that these farmers ENJOY farming. That they play just to farm because it's what makes them happy. Who are you to stop them from having fun? Who are you to ruin someone else's time? They're not crying for nerfs to skills that you use to play the game how you want to play it. What gives you the right to do that to them?
Just play the game and stop crying. This goes for everyone.

Personally ectos being 1k or 100k doesnt make a difference for me, like I said before those players that have stacks of ectos are the usual ones to QQ.

and yet you spend 100k+ on elite armour....gg, PvE is all about commodities, if it wasn't everyone would be playing pvp.

Ok, well I can see we can't have a real discussion about this since it seems to be such a contentious one, although thanks to the few of you that tried to make it one. This was neither a thread to complain in, or speculate as to whether the original poster (me) was for or against the SF nerf, ursan, VwK or 55'ing, but that's what it devolved to. Nor was it a thread screaming "A-Net Must Make These Changes!!!", it was just a chance to have a discussion, but the guru mods (who seem to be more interested in shaping our views of the game recently, rather than moderating the site) decided to chuck the thread into the obscurity of Sardelac, right along such brain busting threads as "Make the Grass in GW blue" and "Why can't my water scepter do slashing damage" Mods please close thread, besides we wouldn't want Regina to think people aren't happy with A-Net. And for the record, I was for the SF Nerf, suckas.

Ok, first of all, this "nerf" is the first aimed at farming for the sake of farming, all other nerfs mentiond in this thread WAS AIMED AT THE BOTS, never before have they cited in game economy as a reson for a nerf.

I think their next focus should be more on the HOM. There are so many things that need to be changed in there, such as the following:
- Allow us to select which statues go where in all the monuments instead of the random generator
- Allow any type of weapon to be added
- Add a place for common armors in the resilience monument
- Give all pets their own special statue, especially the rainbow phoenix
As for Ursan, I think it should stay the way it is. A lot of people use it for hard mode and even then it can still be a challenge. Nerfing it would only frustrate a lot of people because hard mode is too hard as it is.
Other than that I think the primary focus should stay on Guild Wars 2. I'm getting bored with this one. I mean, I still play and like it but I'm very excited for Guild Wars 2.

I think many of you don't understand one thing. It isn't just about chaos planes. It's about how you can be immortal in 95 of 100 places (or even 99 out of 100) by pushing 1, 2 and 3 with your head. Applies to Ursan, Imbagon and SF Sins.
And about me: I have only 200k, maybe, MAYBE, 6 or 7 elite sets on all characters, 0 ectoes and no tormented weapons. I just have enough experience from all the games I've played to know when something is slowly destroying the game like Americans destroying the rainforests. Btw, serves them right for killing 5k people every year with poisons and dangerous animals.
And the funniest thing is in GW 2 FAQ:
Quote:
it retains the unique nature of the original game including a strong narrative, extensive instanced gameplay, an anti-grind design philosophy, and strong support for competitive play.
|
Original game - died in 2006. Strong narrative, extensive gameplay... 6 identical builds + 2 other identical builds. Yay. Anti-grind design philosophy... hehehe. Strong support for competitive play, look first point. Kinda valid in PvP.

Good idea about making UW harder. Balance out Ursan. Weapon and item spells aren't enchants, nub.
